Darren Brown First Father/son Duo to Break the 4-minute Mile

My name is Darren Brown and I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (HOOK 'EM!). I am a middle distance runner who is competing professionally and chasing the dreams that would make everything I've done to this point worthwhile! I have run 3:58.35 for the mile (36hrs after receiving 16 stitches in my calf/achillies I proudly add) and am half of the first father/son duo to break 4 minutes. While I am still in a constant search of support and sponsorship, I will not give up just because it is lacking in this rough economic climate (... and I was an Economics major, so trust me, I understand why its not there!).

Hey Y'all, My name is Darren Brown and I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (HOOK 'EM!). My father, Barry Brown, had a very long and distinguished career as a national and world class runner and my ultimate goal is to surpass all his career marks, and probably a lot of expectations in the process, on the way to creating my own. Three things really drive me ... My amazingly supportive family, who show unwaivering confidence in my abilities to achieve my dreams, the act, feel, and result of really hard, dedicated training and the doubting nay say-ers who claim certain things just aren't in my reach. I'm a competitor by nature, so I will not give up when things get hard or are said to be un-attainable. It just makes accomplishing those things that much sweeter! Be sure to check out the upcoming edition of Runners World to find out more about my life ... my story ... my dream! God Bless, dbrown
