We are going to feature different America cities and show what is going on as far as fitness is concerned.

Road Running

Road running is making the best of a bad situation. Automobiles have put wheels under us and threatened to turn our legs into dead stumps. The concrete and asphalt over which the cars roll have buried the natural environment at an alarming pace.

Yet the same roads are putting a growing number of people back on their feet, and back in touch with what's left of nature. Streets and roads are the most available places to race... Almost all races are open to anyone and everyone. Rarely are there any age, sex or ability barriers. What is great about road races is that you can run as fast or as slow (walking is totally okay) as you choose. Many races now also have events for kids. Set a personal best time or just finish the distance but make it a family outing and have fun.

Bicycling

The bicycle racing boom has become one of the US fastest growing athletic sports.

From the very beginning cycling has had a universal appeal. The kinesthetic sense of coordinated rhythmic movement, the sensation of speed and the freedom of travel afforded by bicycles all combine to quickly create a national pastime.

Events fall roughly into two types, track races, which require special facilities, and road races held on streets and road ways. Distances run the gamut from violently fast sprints of a few hundred meters to road races up to 120 miles. Criteriums are a very popular form of road races contested over short, closed courses in city streets.

Bicycling is also one of the three events participates need to complete in the Triathlon. A fun sport and a great way to stay in shape.
